Privacy policy

Muhūrta ("we") is a Vedic timing instrument operated from Ontario, Canada. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and what we do with it. The short version: we collect only what the instrument needs, we never sell your data, and your birth details are yours.

What we collect

• Nothing, if you just cast a chart. The free instrument at /app/ computes your chart in your browser. Birth details you type there stay on your device (in your browser's local storage) unless you create an account and choose to save them.
• Account data. If you create an account: your email address, the name you give us, and a securely hashed version of your password (we cannot see the password itself).
• Saved chart data. The birth details you choose to save — date, time, place, and the name you label the chart with.
• Contact messages. If you write to us via the contact page: your name, email, and message.

Cookies and measurement

• One essential cookie keeps you signed in. It is required for accounts to work and is not used for advertising.
• Optional Google cookies (Google Analytics and Google Ads) are used only if you accept them in the consent banner, to help us understand how people find and use Muhūrta. Declining changes nothing about how the instrument works. You can change your choice by clearing this site's data in your browser.

How we use your information

To operate your account and dashboard, to compute and re-cast your saved chart, and to reply to messages you send us. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it except with the service providers that run the site — our hosting provider (Hostinger) and, only with your consent, Google's measurement services.

Retention and deletion

Your account data is kept while your account exists. To delete your account and all saved data, ask us via the contact page from the email on the account — we will delete it and confirm.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored only as strong one-way hashes, and database access uses parameterised queries. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the surface small: we store the minimum and compute the rest on your device.

A note on the nature of the data

Birth details are personal. We treat saved charts as private to the account that saved them: they are never published, shared, or used for anything other than showing you your own dashboard.

Children

Accounts are for people 18 and over. Parents may of course cast charts for their family within their own account.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. Questions or requests: the contact page reaches us directly.
